Then you will acquire subject-specific knowledge and skills in the master’s course in marketing communication with a specialization in “Event Management & Marketing Communication”. We give you all the necessary tools on your way to success. Become a sought-after expert.
Art, culture and business events build on special content and messages, are determined by complex interactions and are presented in a special presentation context. In order to achieve the greatest impact, integrated and cross-media marketing communication is required to convey exhibitions, festival concerts or congress events to a broad public on the one hand and to differentiated audiences and customers on the other.
Are you already active in the culture or event industry and work in a managerial position or in project management? Do you want to expand your current field of activity or increase your chances of advancement? Do you want to professionalize your skills at an academic level? Would you like to remain independent of time and place and decide for yourself how much time you spend when and where for your further education? And you prefer individual support? Then this distance learning course is for you!
This master's course is a unique training opportunity in this field. Designed as an online course, it guarantees 100 percent eLearning. This offers the advantage that you can access all course content at any time from your computer, tablet or smartphone and are not tied to fixed start and submission dates.

Curriculum
The Master's course in Marketing Communication with a specialization in "Event Management & Marketing Communication" offers a well-founded transfer of knowledge due to its wide variety of topics. This range of courses covers the diverse range of activities in business practice. It is interdisciplinary, at the same time designed to be intertwined, and moves particularly in the field of communication, economics and cultural sciences. Based on a broad concept of event, which not only addresses congresses, conferences and company events, but also art and cultural events, the master's course provides a solid basis, which is based on compact theoretical units as well as information relevant to practice. In addition, current trends and developments are discussed. Numerous examples and cross-media knowledge transfer in the form of checklists, videos, sound samples, interviews and much more deepen the teaching and learning content. Take a look behind the scenes of successful cultural and event companies with experts.
Program structure
The Master's course consists of three levels in which a total of 15 modules must be completed. The modules comprise 2 or 4 ECTS. The Master's thesis (14 ECTS) concludes the course.
You complete the modules by preparing a module paper. An exception is the legal module, which concludes with an online exam. The fourteen drafts comprise around fifteen pages. Edit all content when and where you want. In the Master's thesis module you have three online seminar dates. Again, you can choose the date and participate from wherever you want. The only requirement is internet access.
In total, you separate fourteen drafts, a test, a master's thesis and a master's examination from your degree.
First level of learning
In level 1, the module Scientific Work and Empirical Social Research must be completed. A module in which literature-supported and evidence-based work is brought closer and thus a good basis is laid for working on the following module tasks. This level also includes two basic modules with general content from communication and marketing, which provide the further scientific basis for the training.
Second level of learning
In level 2, you deal with the basics and general content as well as many detailed questions about art, culture and business events. The aim is to enable a broad entry into this interdisciplinary subject landscape. The theoretical knowledge is backed up and reflected on with numerous practical examples. This level is then condensed into statements regarding dramaturgy and event direction as well as event technology. This complex of topics is completed with the safety and security management module. As a continuation of the communication module, it is also about working with texts, images and videos as well as theories and practical examples from the areas of public relations and media work.
Third level of learning
Level 3 begins with the Quality Management and Project Management module. Here, on the one hand, a holistic, company-wide view is drawn out, on the other hand, individual tools for planning and processing projects are also presented. Based on the basics from level 1, theories, models and practical examples are taught in the two modules image- and sales-oriented marketing communication. A look into the future offers information on topics such as audience development and tourism communication concepts. Legal aspects for the culture and event industry complete the knowledge subjects.
The seminar for the master's thesis is assigned to level 3, because you should usually have already completed a few modules in order to choose a suitable topic. In principle, however, it is up to you when to start the seminar. You start the seminar whenever you have an exposé to present by registering for an online seminar date. True to our motto: Study when and where you want!
examination modalities
You complete 14 of the 15 modules in this part-time Master's program with module work. These are works of around 15 pages with special tasks that combine theory with practice. You complete the 'law' module with an online test.
Within each module, you continuously test your knowledge using integrated self-tests. You must pass these self-tests before you can submit the module work.
You complete the course itself by writing, presenting and defending your master's thesis. You can do this on site or, if you wish, online.
